The Humble Area Genealogical Society (THAGS) in Humble, Texas is hosting an eConference: Back 2 Research on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 8:30am - 3:00pm (CDT). This conference features four guest speakers covering a variety of research topics. Registration is $25 to watch the live webinar presentations OR see the replay on your own schedule for up to 30 days after the eConference. Welcome to October! This month's meeting will start off with a short program on the Salem Witch Trials, presented by GVGS member Deb Kabinier. After a short break, Barbara J. Ball, GISP, CG will present a program on Using Maps in Genealogy and how we can use them in our genealogy research. Her program will cover the variety of maps, their purposes, and the maps most useful in genealogy.

Dress Like An Ancestor!  Remember the fun we had dressing like a favorite ancestor at the January 2018 meeting? We're doing that again at our November meeting for our short program! Pick a favorite ancestor, copy how they may have dressed, and come to the meeting ready to "introduce" us to him or her. Our long program speaker, Janna Bennington, will present a progam on Naturalization.

NGS 2019 Family History Conference – "Journey of Discovery"  (Conferences)
St. Charles Convention Center, St. Charles, Missouri
The National Genealogical Society's 2019 conference includes more than 150 unique lectures on topics such as vital records and religious records, migration and immigration, U.S. census and military records, land records and maps, court records, ethnic resources, government documents, using DNA testing, technology for genealogy, and much more. Conference registration begins Dec. 1, 2018 – you can also register for workshops, tours, meals, and other special conference events. Every conference attendee receives a digital syllabus of more than 600 pages that includes each handout provided for every lecture.
